I went to the Scott Miller / Band of Heathens / Reckless Kelly show last night. It was awesome!

I went with a buddy of mine who had never heard of either band until i let him hear some of there stuff a couple weeks ago. He loved it, and really seemed to like Scott`s music and bought a cd. We went to a tavern before the show to grab a bite to eat and sat down at the bar, we had been sitting there a few minutes and then I realized I was sitting next to Reckless Kellys guitar player David Abeyta, I talked to him a little and then Scott came in and sat next to him, talked to him for a while, he remembered me from the last time he was here. We ended up hanging out with Scott again after the show back at the same bar.

The show was awesome! Scott was great like always, I just wished he would have played longer. He did tell me later that he was planning on coming back to Charlotte early next year with his band, so I hope he gets that worked out. I`ll be there.

Band of Heathens was on next and they did have a pretty good crowd response , but I was not that impressed with them..

Reckless Kelly absolutely ROCKED . The place was packed by then. They came on about 10 45 and played for a couple hours. I will definitely be going to see them again when they come back.

I really enjoyed the Band Of Heathens Sunday night too but I've seen 'em before. It was good to see you again too Slade. Sorry we couldn't stay for Ragweed. Did you have any luck with that CD?

I`am sure most of you Scott Miller fans have seen this video, but just in case...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaLDRQIEpek

27 minute interview with Scott, and he plays a few songs to. I`ve watched it several times in the last few months. It`s really good, tells a little about how he writes the songs.

Here's a video from last week when my heroes were on local TV promoting their upcoming NYE show. They're performing the old V-roys song, Over The Mountain.

I love them boys.

What can I expect from his show?

Whit, humor, love, despair, humanity, sing-alongs, honor, beer.

...not necessarily in that order. Miller shows are a lot of fun. I've been seeing him live for 15 years, plus 75+ times in the last 3 years. You won't be dissapointed.

I think you just described Sunday nights show perfect! That was my 3rd time seeing Scott , and I plan on seeing him a lot more. It was a great show!

Marty,

Since I have already ripped on Kenny Chesney today, I will try to make it up to you. Below is a link to the entire Miller show at the Cactus Cafe in Austin. You can download the entire show in a zip file or song by song.

I don't think there's anyone on here in my area that check's the board on a regular basis but if there is I hope to see you at The Shed tonight. Miller plays his first area show of the year since NYE & I for one am FIRED UP! From 2005 to 2008 I saw Miller 100 times (literally!) but only got to see him 6 times last year & none so far this year - if you don't count drinking with him around town. This'll only be the 3rd Commonwealth show of the year but I know the boys will bring it (hope they got a practice in last night or this morning). Wink

As if it weren't enough that Miller's playin', the other band I work with here in town is opening the show - the Kevin Abernathy Band. They're a southern rock trio rooted in metal. Great songs, great lyrics & some flat out bad-ass guitar playin'! Abernathy makes that Les Paul smoke I'm tellin' ya! And this will be the first time the Miller & Abernathy have shared a stage since Miller was is The V-roys & Abernathy was in the Shapeshifters. RAWK!

~ JK
