Anybody have anything planned for this year?
I know everybody`s money is probably tight this year ( at least mine is ) but I thought I mention that one of the best deals in vacations right now is probably a cruise. You would be surprised at some of the deals out there.
I went on my first cruise in 2008, it was a 4 day Bahamas cruise with Royal Caribbean and we had a blast. Me and 7 of my buddies are going on another cruise this summer, this time with Carnival. Leaving out of Miami Fl, stopping in Key West, then Cozumel Mexico, a day at sea, then back to Miami. Monday to Friday. The cruise is costing $370 per person, that includes ALL meals, deserts and entertainment. I`am talking buffets for breakfast and lunch, and a more formal sit down dinner at night, free room service, 24 pizza buffet. The only thing not included is alcohol, so if you can control yourself a little you have a pretty cheap week. We`re flying down to Miami and thats $230 round trip direct flight. Both of those prices are including taxs to. Carnival is sailing out of Charleston SC now , so you could drive there and eliminate some of the cost of getting to the port.
Just thought I `d mention it to you guys, because you can`t hardly go anywhere for 4 nights and include all 3 meals plus any snacks you want, for $370. Not to mention the live shows they have. Seems like a great deal to me.
I`ve probably put this up here before but here`s a slide show from my first cruise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsuyinKPwXk _________________ Guitars, Tiki Bars, and a whole lot of love! |

I didnt go anywhere last year due to the twins being born. This year, I plan on loading the circus up and going somewhere. It just has to be something that a 4 year old and 2 one year olds can deal with. _________________ Did you know that Janis Joplin speed walked everywhere and was afraid of toilets? |

Short on details...I was 15 & spent the second half of the cruise confined to the cabin because my father mistakely had in his head I was off with one the waitstaff!!!!!!!!!! (in my defense..I feel asleep topdeck watching the stars and did not hear the Captin on the LOUD SPEAKER calling for me). We left out of Miami I think......and there was a truckers strike going on at the time...which will greatly inpact a dock.
I remember white sands, a roped off area for snorkeling...which fightened me to death when some big ass fish popped up in my face...two toplees woman that had my Dad smiling and my Mom pissed, my brother getting on my last freakin nerve....oh and the islanders...once we docked, they climed up the anchor chain and dove off the ship with wreckless abandon for change that people threw in the water. And even WAAAY back then a McDonalds cheeseburger was $3.00!!! We kids wanted one, we were tired of all the seafood.....my parents were tired of us!!! _________________ "I always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific" - Lily Tomlin. |

Not too sure about vacation this year...some things just haven't gone my way lately.
Heading to Cleveland Friday...THAT IS NOT A VACATION! 80th birthday party.
Probably do a trip to the mountain in NH. Some friends own a condo on one of the ski resorts and let us stay there for practically nothing. Maybe start a fund for Disney next year, the boy will be 11 then and he'll be big enough for more rides. Plan is to stay in Disney but ya never know.
On a good note I did get a couple tickets reserved for Chris's MA show coming up on the 25th! _________________ If this rig will hold out one more day...

July through December dates are all up in the air right now for Mic & the High Score and I'm super geeked about it. Evidently the words already getting out about their new CD coming out in June and I'm trying to coordinate runs from Chicago to Gainesville and Texas to Boston! I've got Richmond in the blueprints so hopefully we'll get that confirmed soon, fastcar.
So as far as vacations go, I'm happy we took the kids to Disney last year because it looks like the band's going to keep me busy this summer - & that's not a bad place to be. _________________ ...they make me feel like I'm somebody, number one |

After assessing the damage to my backyard after ignoring it all winter, I have a feeling I'm not doing much this summer that doesn't involve a chainsaw, brushhog and a hammer. But I'm gonna try to get out to WV at least twice to see some family and maybe a VA or NC weekend trip to see a show.
Went to Edisto Island, SC last summer for a week. Great place, off the tourist track for the most part and relatively cheap as compared to going to Myrtle Beach or the Outer Banks. I highly recommend it if your idea of relaxation is front porch drinking with some tunes and a paper. _________________ Mike
